Photos Captured on the CPTR Race Course
As runners close in on the 25-mile finish line (turn-around for the 50-milers), the course takes a fast descent off of the MIdland Railroad grade down great singletrack to, and then across, the Arkansas River - using the bridge at the lower left of the photo. The bridge is always a welcome sight!
The Town of Buena Vista is on the runners' right as they head up the hill east of town. The pre-race festivities and registration are held in the Community Center which appears at the lower left of the image. It's hidden there in the trees. The start/finish line is just to the left of the Community Center and is clearly marked on race day!
As runners approach the end of the first 25 miles, and again at the beginning of the second 25 miles, racers are greeted with some gorgeous views of Chaffee County and the Collegiate Peaks to the West.
